FAQs

What is YOMI Matcha?

YOMI Matcha is a ceremonial grade Japanese green tea crafted for daily ritual use, focus, and calm energy. It is sourced from Yame, Japan, a region known for producing some of the most refined and traditionally cultivated matcha in the country.

Each batch is selected for its natural sweetness, vibrant green color, and smooth umami profile, designed to be enjoyed without additives, milk, or sweeteners.

Where is your matcha sourced from?

Our matcha is exclusively sourced from Yame, located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. This region is highly respected for its shade-grown tea cultivation, where leaves are carefully protected from direct sunlight before harvest.

This traditional method enhances chlorophyll levels and amino acid content, resulting in a deeper flavor, richer color, and smoother taste profile compared to standard green tea powders.

Is your matcha ceremonial grade?

Yes. YOMI Matcha is ceremonial grade, meaning it is made from the youngest, most tender tea leaves of the first harvest and intended for traditional preparation with water only.

Ceremonial grade matcha is the highest quality classification and is chosen for its naturally balanced flavor, lack of bitterness when properly prepared, and smooth texture suitable for drinking on its own.

Is your matcha tested for safety and quality?

Yes. Every batch of YOMI Matcha is independently laboratory tested in the European Union and produced in facilities that follow strict quality control standards, including ISO 22000:2018 food safety management certification.

Each batch is tested for heavy metals, pesticide residues, and microbiological safety to ensure full compliance with EU food safety regulations. This guarantees not only premium taste and consistency, but also complete transparency and trust in every tin.

What does “first harvest” mean?

First harvest refers to the earliest tea leaves picked in spring, typically the most valuable and nutrient-dense harvest of the year.

These young leaves contain higher concentrations of amino acids such as L-theanine, which contributes to a naturally smooth, slightly sweet flavor and reduced bitterness. First harvest matcha is considered the highest quality available due to its freshness and refined taste profile.

How should I prepare matcha?

For traditional preparation, sift 1 to 2 grams of matcha into a bowl to remove clumps and ensure a smooth texture.

Add a small amount of hot water, ideally between 70 and 80°C, as boiling water can damage the delicate flavor profile. Whisk vigorously in a zig-zag motion until a light foam forms on the surface.

You may then enjoy it as is, or adjust the ratio of water depending on whether you prefer a stronger or lighter taste.

How should I store matcha?

To preserve freshness, matcha should be kept tightly sealed and stored away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
